Hello World
What's up, I'm Aidan
Sometimes I like writing on a laptop better than speaking into my phone…
That’s why this substack exists. I wasn’t a Twitter OG either and the thread-making is still weird to me, so I figured this was the best way to do more long-form stuff.
The stuff I write on this page will be about things that interest me, however weird or obscure they may be. My goal is to just grow and get better at expressing myself and my opinions better over time through the written word. I have a separate, hand-written journal that I use for my day-to-day life drama, but I think this space would be cool to just see my ~professional~ writing evolve over time (although my writing is anything but professional - probably novice at best).
I might also just use these as scripts for videos I put out once in (lately it’s seemed like forever ago) a blue moon. I have more thoughts than I do pictures or videos, and I think it takes less time to produce content in this form than it does to film several takes of a couple sentences and then edit that down in some video-editing software app that I have little to no experience with.
Basically, what I’m saying is that I’m shy? Maybe that’s not the right adjective. Never used that word to describe myself before.
I think it’s more so that writing makes me and my thoughts seem more coherent and put-together than if I just filmed myself talking into my phone. And who doesn’t like their ideas and opinions to sound coherent and put-together? I sure do.
Since I graduated from college, I haven’t really needed to write anything anymore and I guess I miss it a little lol. The fact that I’m not submitting this to be graded either is really freeing thought as well. Never would I have dreamed of publishing or submitting something with “lol” in it before now.
Anyway, you can expect a post from me on this blog every now and again. I’ve known myself long enough to know that I go through phases in my life. This is just the beginning of another one, however long or short-lived it may be.
So I guess welcome to the ride.
Probably a good idea to talk about some general topics that interest me so you know what to expect.
First of all, I spend a sizeable amount of time listening to podcasts each day. I like listening to Andrew Huberman’s Huberman Lab podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience (which is what got me started listening to podcasts on my drives between the University of South Carolina and Chicago), the Lex Fridman Podcast, Let’s Appreciate with Kyla Scanlon, Bankless, the Tim Dillon Show, and the All-In Podcast, to name a few.
Just going based on those podcasts, it’d be safe to assume that I’m quite intellectually invested in the topics of those shows (maybe with the exception of the Tim Dillon Show, which I just get a laugh out of) - those being the economy, health & wellness, technology, finance, and a whole lot more.
Next, I’m really interested in the way that humans interact and communicate with one another, whether that be face-to-face, online, or with technology that was created by humans to stimulate interactions. The variety in types of people we find in this world fascinates me and I think everyone has some aspect about themself or their life that others can learn from.
I’d consider myself to be a bit of a loose cannon when it comes to my interests, so I don’t think I can quite narrow down any sort of niche yet unfortunately. I know that’s what people in this “game” tell you to do, but I’d much rather just do what I want, and what I want is to write/post about what I’m interested in, which is a lot (I know, real specific).
Also, I definitely won’t be monetizing anything anytime soon considering I have an Instagram with just over 200 followers and a Twitter with a little over 70. Don’t know if I’ll ever be in a position to, or even want to monetize my public persona - I’m just doing this for myself at the moment.
Well, I think wrapping up any body of writing is the hardest and most annoying part of the process. It’s like when they say “It’s not a goodbye, it’s a cya later,” I don’t like goodbyes, so I’m not keen on conclusions.
For that reason, I suppose there’s no harm in making it easy and ending this introductory post with a simple Cya Later. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and wish you a wonderful morning/day/night :)

Excited to see future posts!
